Good Advice

1. If you voted in May you will know our village hut was not a polling station. The Parish Council tried to get this reviewed but the next opportunity will be 2028/9 election.
2. Tisbury Library offers a warm welcome to all, offering: a free warm space to sit. Basic energy advice and referrals to the energy advisors at “Warm and Safe Wiltshire”. 3. Prepare for possible power cuts, note SSEN run the network not your electricity supplier:

Save the emergency power cut number - '105' - to your phone to report any loss of supply or damage to the electricity network
Visiting SSEN's Power Track Website to give you details of power cuts . You can also report power cuts and network damage through the Power Track app
Going to SSEN's website where there is a wealth of advice and information on how to deal with a power cut, or to chat live to one of SSEN's advisors via its webchat service.

If you lose power for a distribution system fault for more than 12 hours SSEN will provide compensation. More than 24 hours compensation is automatic.

Our Christmas Services: Carols and Lessons Sunday 21 December at 4pm with refreshments. Christmas Day at 11.15 am Christmas Communion with carols all welcome especially young people to both services.

Our Church Services Pattern for 2026 is as follows:

1st Sunday of month - 0800 Holy Communion.

2nd Sunday - 11.15 Morning Prayer.

3rd Sunday - No service . Service at Bishop at 9.30 Morning Prayer.

4th Sunday - 11.15 Morning Prayer.

CPR is an emergency lifesaving procedure, performed when the heart stops beating. Each year over 30,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK, with less than one in ten surviving - giving CPR and using a defibrillator can more than double someone’s chance of survival.
Applications for secondary school places. You have until end of October to apply for secondary school places for the September 2026 entry. Applications for primary schools and infant to junior transfer close January 2026.

Forthcoming events

Sunday 14 December will be our Parish Council sponsored village Christmas party starting at 4pm. In the Hut

Sunday 21 December will be our Christmas Carols in our church SP3 6QW at 4pm. Save these dates.

The Old Fonthill Abbey Grounds were open in 2025 on 4th and 18th May.

This was a very successful event in aid of Cure Parkinson’s and local charities (including our Church and Village Hut). Thanks to all who helped and please keep one of these Sundays free (first or third in May) to do it again in 2026!

Parish Council Meetings in the Village Hut continue at 7pm on the first Monday of each month, unless a change is published on the village notice board.

Parish FAQs

Ticks can be active all year round, but they are most active in the months April to July, and sometimes later in the autumn.
Don't let ticks stop you from enjoying the outdoors but reduce the chance of acquiring a tick bite by:
1. Using a repellent that prevents ticks
2.   Wearing long sleeves and long trousers to reduce direct skin exposure
3.   Keep to clearly defined paths and avoid brushing against vegetation
4.   Regularly check for ticks and brush off any you find immediately
5.   When you’re back indoors, check for any ticks on you, your children and pets
6. If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible with a removal device
